The Diary

cenacolo guys One of the daily practices in Comunità Cenacolo is the writing of the diary. All of the work responsibilities are assigned on a rotating basis, determined by the need of each young man and the needs of the house. Thus, one's house responsibility is neither arbitrary nor automatic.

The diary is written in the chapel at the end of each day. The young man stands up and reads it at the end of lunch and dinner with everyone in the house present. It is intended to be an open, honest, and transparent reflection upon the feelings, struggles, fears, difficulties, joys, sorrows, victories, failures, gifts, emotional and behavioral reactions the young man has experienced from the moment he wakes up to the moment he is writing the diary in the chapel. It helps him to know himself and to change, plus it helps his brothers to know how to help him better.

The diary entry here was written by one of our guys who is very young in Community and in age. Most assuredly, it will give you a glimpse of the depth to which Cenacolo invites her sons and daughters to journey in self-awareness and in truth. For those of us who genuinely attempt to grow to be more like Jesus, to look honestly at our faults and weaknesses, and to truly convert our lives, it is an invitation to self-reflection and growth.
